It hadn't been all that bad once they got pack animals to take the weight instead of carting it on their own backs, but Roger had brought over nine thousand rounds down with him, which had represented a pretty severe case of overkill. We think the last three sprays are overkill, considering that water alone will often do the trick. John Patten, the junior Health Minister, was quick to dismiss any fears of official panic or overkill. The picture that came up was of a multistage rocket, the kind that would be overkill if all one needed to do was get a satellite into orbit. Ste Cork declared the registered version freeware on July 23, 2008. The shareware version allows the user to play planets one and two, while the commercial version grants access to all six planets. Nothing else was changed between the 19 versions. PSP's name was removed from all screens within the game for the 1993 re-release, and replaced by references to Epic UK. Because of certain business practices, in less than a year from the original release date the author took legal action against Precision Software Publishing (PSP), who immediately lost the right to publish the game or collect payments for it from any other distributors throughout Europe. There are two versions of the game, the shareware version, and the commercial version. While the game did sell a considerable amount of copies, it was quickly overshadowed by later vertical shooters such as Raptor: Call of the Shadows, Major Stryker, and Tyrian. It boasted EGA graphics, PC speaker sound effects, support for a joystick, and a General MIDI musical track. The game was lacking some of the technology that other top shareware games of the time had, such as Jill of the Jungle, ID Software's Commander Keen, and Apogee's Duke Nukem. To date, Overkill has released seventeen studio albums, one album of cover songs, three EPs and three live albums. Chaly has appeared on most of their album covers. Most non-Indian residents were soldiers stationed at Fort Dallas. Harney led several raids against the Indians. The area was affected by the Second Seminole War, during which Major William S. At about the same time, the Seminole Indians arrived, along with a group of runaway slaves. Some accepted Spanish land offers along the Miami River. People came from the Bahamas to South Florida and the Keys to hunt for treasure from the ships that ran aground on the treacherous Great Florida Reef. The first permanent European settlers arrived in the early 19th century. The Cubans sent two ships to help them, but Spanish illnesses struck and most of the Tequesta died. By 1711, the Tequesta sent a couple of local chiefs to Havana, Cuba, to ask if they could migrate there. After the Spaniards left, the Tequesta Indians were left to fend themselves from European-introduced diseases like smallpox. Spanish soldiers led by Father Francisco Villarreal built a Jesuit mission at the mouth of the Miami River a year later but it was short-lived. Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and his men made the first recorded landing when they visited the Tequesta settlement in 1566 while looking for Avilés' missing son, shipwrecked a year earlier. It is unknown whether he came ashore or made contact with the natives. His journal records he reached Chequescha, a variant of Tequesta, which was Miami's first recorded name. Juan Ponce de León was the first European to visit the area in 1513 by sailing into Biscayne Bay. The Tequesta are credited with making the Miami Circle. They buried the small bones of the deceased with the rest of the body, and put the larger bones in a box for the village people to see. The Tequesta Indians fished, hunted, and gathered the fruit and roots of plants for food, but did not practice agriculture. The inhabitants at the time of first European contact were the Tequesta people, who controlled much of southeastern Florida, including what is now Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and the southern part of Palm Beach County. The first inhabitants settled on the banks of the Miami River, with the main villages on the northern banks. The earliest evidence of Native American settlement in the Miami region came from about 12,000 years ago. Lyme disease Limping, stiffness and swollen joints that shifts between legs Fever (high temperature) Low energy (lethargy) Swollen lymph nodes (glands). Lyme disease, also known as Lyme borreliosis, is a bacterial illness that can be transmitted to humans, dogs, and other animals by certain species of ticks. Tick bites on dogs may be hard to detect. Lyme disease in dogs is commonly indicated by a shifting lameness, fatigue, loss of appetite and sometimes, they don’t even show any signs at all. The bullseye can only be seen, sometimes, in humans who have been bitten by ticks. The interesting fact is that dogs don’t get the stereotypical bullseye that we associate with tick bites and Lyme disease. Tis the season for black flies and ticks! This time of year, we get a lot of calls from concerned owners who think that their dog has a bullseye mark from a tick bite.

Messaging is completely unlocked even using the free app, but you can only see who has already liked you if you upgrade to Bumble Premium, which is offered in a variety of subscription lengths. Most of the site's basic features are available for free, though like with most dating apps, it's a limited experience. That's a great feature that puts women in control of the meeting tempo, but some guys might be less than thrilled with that arrangement. Once a man matches with a woman, the woman has to make the first move, so a man can't message a potential match until she's already started the conversation, and if that doesn't happen within 24 hours of a match, the connection disappears. While the basic mechanism is the same as many other dating services (you swipe to like or dislike profiles), Bumble is a women-first dating experience in its heterosexual matching iteration. In addition, upgrading buys you unlimited likes and an ad-free experience.īumble puts women in charge of making the first contact after matching with men.īumble is distinctive among dating apps. Once your profile is set up, the app tracks users who like your profile as well as potential matches who have a high percentage of interests and answers in common with you.īut while the app can be used for free, with an upgrade to OKCupid Premium - which starts at $39.99 per month (it's cheaper if you subscribe for more than a month at a time) - you can see people who have liked you so you can like them back. The site also gives you a wealth of ways to self-identify your gender and sexuality, more so than most others. Even so, OKCupid tries to differentiate itself by collecting a lot of information about you when you create a profile and giving you the opportunity to answer a lot of optional questions to create a more nuanced profile. OKCupid is part of the same dating app family as Match, Tinder, and Hinge - they are all owned by the same parent company. OKCupid gives you a lot of ways to stand out aside from just profile photos. And for a better chance of matching with someone, you'll want to upgrade to Tinder Gold (which starts around $30 per month) so you can see users who have already liked you, as well as get other advanced features like the ability to message users before liking them and "rewinds," which are essentially swiping undos. You can only swipe right up to 100 times per day, for example, without upgrading to unlimited likes with Tinder Plus ($10 per month if you're under 30, otherwise $20 per month). You can use these basic features for free, but it comes with significant limitations. In addition, it has a slew of "Discover" modes designed to connect you with potential matches. If both of you like each other's profiles, you've matched and can then start a text conversation or have a video chat within the app. Tinder is the dating app that essentially invented the idea of swiping right and left to match or reject potential partners - a dating app mechanic that is now commonly used in most other apps. Tinder has a wealth of features to help you discover potential matches. And while that might be something of a disadvantage, Facebook Dating has a lot of other upsides, including the ability to take a second look at profiles you initially passed on and the chance to match up with your "secret crush" – a person that's listed among your friends on Facebook or a follower on Instagram. It's only available in the mobile app ( iOS, Android), so you can't access it in the Facebook website on your computer. Facebook Dating avoids matching you with your existing Facebook friends, but you can use common interests and Facebook groups to find potential matches. In addition, it's somewhat less common to encounter fake profiles because the entire service is built on Facebook, and users can optionally share their Facebook profiles with one another. Unlike the alternatives, it is completely free with no in-app subscriptions or purchases, and it's easy to build a profile because it lets you draw on your existing Facebook profile. Facebook Dating is embedded in the mobile Facebook app and is completely free.įacebook Dating quickly rose to be one of the best free dating sites. Once again, this is wonderfully useful and easy, but there are some things that need improvement. Here you define the pins of your part by tying the pins and their definitions to the pattern that you created in the previous step. Once you have your footprint defined, you move over into the Component Editor. If your part does not meet any of the standard shapes, you can place pads in any fashion you desire to meet your unique requirements. It is here that you would also add any silkscreen markings to the pattern that you desire. You are not constrained by standard round, oval, or square pads you can import pad shapes from a DXF file. Using the Pattern Editor you can define an initial pattern of pads and pad shapes. Starting in the pattern editor, you have a number of predefined shapes that are available to the user with various sizing options. The first part is the Pattern Editor and the second part is the Component Editor. This feature is broken up into two parts. It is very fast to create a custom part that you know will meet your needs. With this wizard, I never had a need to go out and look for a part library on the Internet. Once the schematic is created, it allows for all the parts and their connections to be pushed to the PCB Layout tool.įor those times when the part that you need is not in the standard library, DipTrace has a wonderful - yet deceptively simple - Footprint Wizard. Multi-sheet schematics are also supported. There is also the ability to import and export schematics in various file formats, though I did not have a chance to evaluate this feature. The Schematic Capture tool supports such things as hierarchical blocks, busses, and net ports. If you do get stuck, there is a set of both video tutorials as well as a 221-page PDF tutorial that gives an overview of the program. The Schematic Capture tool is relatively intuitive, allowing a first-time user to leap in without any real need to go through tutorials. These are just some small things, but they would smooth the interface.Īssuming all the parts you need are in the standard component library (rather extensive at 100,000+ parts), you can jump right into designing your circuit in the schematic capture tool. I also would like to see the file management options of "Import" and "Export" be contained under the "Open" and "Save As" menus. One thing that is noticeably missing is the native ability to save your schematics to a PDF file (in order to achieve this currently, you would have to install a "Print to PDF" application). Each element is tied to one another, though, somewhat loosely.ĭespite all these great features, there are some small items that would be nice improvements. This is the launcher for each element of the program. To start DipTrace, you use the DipTrace Launcher as shown below. The stated Mac compatibility is from Leopard through Mountain Lion (it appears you may require specific versions of the DipTrace installer for the various releases of OS X). Despite my preference for Windows, Mac OS X users will be happy to know that there is a version for them. I personally have run it on Windows 7-64 Pro without any issues. It is stated to have windows compatibility from Windows 2000 all the way through Windows 8. Let's see how it meets my outlined criteria.ĭipTrace offers full Windows compatibility, including having installers for both 32- and 64-bit systems. I have implemented a handful of projects using the DipTrace design package. This limits me to 300 pins and two signal layers. This free version can be extended under the "non-profit lite license" to 500 pins, though still limited to only two layers (paid versions support more layers).įor the purposes of this review I have chosen to evaluate the basic, free version of the program. When using the free offering, you are limited to 300 pins and two layers. As mentioned in my earlier post, there were six features that I consider to be necessities as follows:ĭipTrace has a free offering for non-commercial use as well as several levels of paid versions intended for commercial purposes. This is the first installment of that effort - a review of DipTrace by Novarm. I also promised to share my experiences with each program as I used it. In my previous blog, A Guide to Low Cost PCB Tools, I listed a handful of free to low-cost PCB tool options along with a set of criteria of things that I felt were necessary to have a usable PCB tool that meets my needs.
